WGU now runs its own FNP and PMHNP tracks at flat-term pricing, with the FNP open everywhere except California, the District of Columbia, Louisiana, New York, North Dakota, and Washington. What Walden still owns outright is breadth: five NP specializations against WGU's two, four non-NP tracks against WGU's three, every one billed by the quarter credit.

The math still leans WGU, at both tiers

Walden meters the same tier at $505 per quarter credit, and its academic catalog puts the BSN-entry MSN at 53 to 63 quarter credits depending on specialization, 23 core plus 30 to 40 in the specialization. Walden does market a faster lane: Tempo Learning, its competency-based format, advertises select specializations at "as few as 14 months for as low as $13,000," but the asterisk stacks a scholarship, transfer credit, and the pace of its fastest quarter of students. The gap you should plan around is the unasterisked one, and it favors WGU by five figures. Either way, finish speed feeds directly into when the NP salary starts arriving, which dwarfs the tuition delta over a career.
